Location

Manresa is 5 kilometers from the Llobregat and Cardener’s river conjunction but it is also a hub of communications in Catalonia because it is next to the Llobregat and transverse axis and it connects the Pyrenean Mountains with the Mediterranean coasts.

To sum up, everyone could access into the town by any direction and it has played a very important role in the central organization of Catalonia for many years.

In terms of road infrastructure, the good geographical location makes the city an important crossing road: the Transverse axis, the axis of Llobregat and the Diagonal axis. The transverse axis (Dual carriageway C-25) links, since 1997, the Lleida’s valley with the surrounding region of Barcelona avoiding the traditional routes that they had made Barcelona the focus of any route in Catalonia. This axis allows communication Manresa road towards east and west is excellent but it is not the only one.

The Diagonal Axis joins Manresa with Igualada, Vilafranca and Vilanova i la Geltru. It has become a good road link between the coast and the regions of Central Catalonia.

Finally, the Axis of Llobregat (C-16) is the which links Barcelona with Paris in a straight line passing through Toulouse, Limoges and Orleans and it is integrated in the road network of Community according to the Geneva agreement of 1985. In Catalonia,   the Llobregat axis unites sea and mountains and concretely the northern section of this axis connects Manresa with the Pyrenees. So, in the route of Manresa and Berga the roads have been split for a better traffic and in south connections the city is approximately 1 hour drive from the airports of Barcelona and Girona.
